The lead singer of Weezer was involved in a bus accident Sunday that left him and another passenger hospitalized.

Rivers Cuomo, 40, is still in St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, New York where he is suffering from several injuries including broken ribs and injury to his spleen.

Luckily, Cuomo’s wife, daughter, and a fifth passenger on the bus were not injured. The bus was traveling from Toronto to Boston for a show Monday night at the Agganis Arena at Boston University.

The accident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. Sunday, while the bus was traveling eastbound on the Thruway near Amsterdam. The driver said the back end of the bus slid on ice, then went into the median and hit some reflective posts before crossing back over the highway and going over a guardrail.

Weezer has canceled the rest of their tour until Cuomo has recovered.

Mickey Rouke may not have received an Oscar Sunday night but Utica did get a shout out in The Wrestler. In one scene, where ”The Ram” decides he is not going to continue wrestling due to his failing heath, he calls a promoter and tell him he won’t be able to attend any upcoming matches, including one in Utica. Granted, Rouke’s character doesn’t specify he’s talking about Utica, NY but given upstate NY’s connection to wrestling, not to mention that Mickey was once an upstate NYer, we’re going to assume he was talking about this Utica!
